Weekend Wrap-up: Celebrating Women’s History Month and God’s Presence

Hello and welcome to another Weekend Wrap-up, where we share some highlights and insights from the past week. Today is also March 3rd, which means we are in the beginning of Women’s History Month, a time to honor and celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout history and across the world. In this post, we’ll explore some of the inspiring stories of individual women in the past who overcame huge odds or achieved something great, as well as one of our favorite bracelet sayings: “God is within her, she will not fail”.

Who are some individual women in the past who overcame huge odds or achieved something great?

There are countless examples of women who have demonstrated courage, resilience, and excellence in the face of adversity and challenges. Here are just a few of them:

  • Harriet Tubman: Harriet Tubman was born into slavery in Maryland in the early 1800s. She escaped to freedom in 1849 and became a leading figure in the Underground Railroad, a network of secret routes and safe houses that helped enslaved people flee to the North. She risked her life to make 19 trips back to the South, rescuing over 300 people from bondage. She also served as a spy, scout, and nurse for the Union Army during the Civil War. She later became an activist for women’s suffrage and civil rights. She is widely regarded as one of the most influential and heroic women in American history. Harriet Tubman was a woman of deep faith, who believed that God guided and protected her in her mission. She once said, “I always told God, I’m going to hold steady on to you, and you’ve got to see me through.”
  • Mother Teresa: Mother Teresa was a Catholic nun and missionary who devoted her life to serving the poor, the sick, and the dying. She founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious order that operates in over 130 countries, providing care, education, and support to the needy. She also received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her humanitarian work. She is widely regarded as one of the most compassionate and selfless women in history. Mother Teresa was a woman of profound faith, who believed that God called her to love and serve the least of these. She once said, “I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.”
  • Corrie ten Boom: Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch Christian who, along with her family, helped hundreds of Jews escape the Nazi persecution during World War II. She hid them in a secret room in her house, which was part of the Dutch resistance movement. She was eventually arrested and sent to a concentration camp, where she endured torture and hardship. She survived the ordeal and later became a writer and speaker, sharing her story of faith, forgiveness, and hope. She wrote the best-selling book The Hiding Place, which was made into a movie. She is widely regarded as one of the most inspiring and devout women in Christian history. Corrie ten Boom was a woman of strong faith, who believed that God was with her and her family in their trials. She once said, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”

These are just some of the individual women in the past who overcame huge odds or achieved something great. They are examples of women who trusted God’s presence and promise in their lives, and who did not let their circumstances define or limit them. They are role models for us today, as we face our own challenges and opportunities.

How to Gain Strength from Your Faith?

One of the themes of Women’s History Month is to celebrate the courage, confidence, and resilience of women who have overcome obstacles, faced challenges, and pursued their dreams. One of the ways to emulate these women is to gain strength from your faith and God’s presence. Gaining strength from your faith is not always easy, especially when you encounter doubts, fears, or failures. However, gaining strength from your faith is essential for achieving your goals, fulfilling your potential, and living your best life. Here are some tips to help you gain strength from your faith:

  • Meditate on God’s word. God’s word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). It is also a source of comfort, guidance, and wisdom. When you meditate on God’s word, you can fill your mind with His truth, promises, and character. You can also memorize and recite His word, especially when you face difficulties or temptations. Some examples of verses you can meditate on are Psalm 46:5, Isaiah 41:10, Philippians 4:13, and Hebrews 13:5.
  • Pray without ceasing. Prayer is a powerful way to communicate with God and to express your needs, desires, and gratitude. When you pray without ceasing, you can acknowledge God’s presence in every situation and invite Him to intervene in your life. You can also listen to His voice and discern His will. Some examples of prayers you can pray are the Lord’s Prayer, the Serenity Prayer, the Prayer of Jabez, and the Prayer of St. Francis.
  • Worship with joy. Worship is a joyful expression of your love, admiration, and devotion to God. When you worship with joy, you can praise God for who He is and what He has done. You can also experience His presence and power in a tangible way. You can worship with joy through various forms, such as singing, dancing, playing instruments, writing, or creating art.
  • Share your testimony. Testimony is a personal account of how God has worked in your life. When you share your testimony, you can testify to God’s presence and faithfulness in your past, present, and future. You can also inspire and encourage others to trust God and to seek His presence. You can share your testimony with anyone, anywhere, and anytime, such as with your friends, family, coworkers, or strangers.
